Melanie goes DownUnder

Gestern waren wir in Christchurch unterwegs. Wir haben uns Cathedral Central angsehen (aussen und innen) und dann sind wir noch etwas in der Stadt rumspaziert. Ausserdem waren wir noch in der Art Gallery und im Art Center. In den botanischen Garten haben wir es nicht mehr geschafft, da es zu spaet wurde und ausserdem angefangen hat zu nieseln. :(

Ich hab an einem Stand mit dem Aufdruck vom Schloss Neuschwanenstein eine richtig gute Wurst gegessen. Die beste, die ich seit August hatte. :)

Yesterday we were in Christchurch. We had a look at Cathedral Central (inside and outside) and we had a nice walk in the city. And we went to the Art Gallery and to the Art Centre. We did not go to the botanic garden because it was to late and it started to rain. :(

At a food stand I had a very nice sausage - the best I had since last August. At the stand you coud see the castle Neuschwanenstein from Germany. :)

Das Abholen hat gut geklappt und Doris und Manni sind gesund und munter in Christchurch angekommen. Haben uns am Flughafen gleich gefunden und nach einiger Zeit dann auch unser Wohnmobil uebernommen. Die Uebernahme hat etwas gedauert, da man erst den ganzen Papierkram erledigen muss, dann kriegt man ein Video gezeigt und dann wird einem noch einmal alles am Auto selbst erklaert.

My parents arrived healthy and happy in Christchurch. We met at the airport and then we drove to the Apollo to get our camper. It took a lot of time to get the car because we had to fill out a lot of paperwork, watch a video and then see all the stuff at the camper.

Heute ist ANZAC Day hier in Neuseeland und auch in Australien. Da ich aber nicht viel mit ANZAC anfangen koennte, hab ich mich mal schlau gemacht.

ANZAC bedeuet Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

Jedes Jahr am 25. April wird an die Mitgliedern der australischen und neuseelaendischen Armee gedacht, die waehrend dem ersten Weltkrieg in Gallipoli (Tuerkei) gelandet sind/ gedient haben.

Today is ANZAC Day. I did not know what ANZAC means and why it is a public holiday in Australia and New Zealand. That's why I looked it up and explained it to my friends in Germany.

Ich muss nur noch 3 Stunden warten und dann sind meine Eltern endlich da - vorrausgesetzt das Flugzeug hat keine Verspaetung. Ich bin hier im Internetcafe um mir die Zeit totzuschlagen. In ca. 2 Stunden werde ich zurueck zum Hotel gehen, mein Gepaeck abholen und dann zum Flughafen fahren. Ich freu mich schon.

I only have to wait another 3 hours and then I will meet my parents at the airport - hopefully the plane will be on time. I am at the internetcafe at the time because I have to wait the next few hours. In about 2 hours I will go back to my hotel, get my luggage and then I am on the way to the airport. I am happy.

Ich hab mich heute morgen spontan umentschieden und hab heute schon das Antarctic Centre besucht. Im Center kann man ganz viel sehen, lesen und lernen ueber die Antarktis. Es gibt ganz viele Infos und ich fand es total interessant. Wenn ich irgendwann mal genuegend Geld ueber habe, werde ich vielleicht auch mal die Antarktis besuchen. Warum auch nicht? Ist ja schliesslich ein Kontinent dieser Erde, auch wenn es dort etwas kaelter sein koennte als sonstwo.

Ich hab auch die Fahrt im Hagglund mitgemacht. Ein Hagglund ist eine All-Terrain-Fahrzeug und kann ueber Schnee, Eis und im Wasser fahren.

Ausserdem hat das Center noch Pinguine zu bieten. Die Pinguine, die hier zu sehen sind, sind Kleine Blaue Pinguine.

In the morning I changed my mind and I went to the Antarctic Centre today instead tomorrow. In the Antarctic Centre you can read, see and learn a lot about Antarctica. I think it is very interesting. If I have enough money I will book a trip to Antarctica even if it is very, very cold there. Colder than on other places on the earth.

I also did the drive in the Hagglund. The Hagglund is a All-Terrain-Vehicle and can drive about snow, ice and in the water.

And you can see penguins in the centre too. The penguins you can see here are little blue penguins.

Gestern bin ich mit JetStar von Melbourne nach Christchurch geflogen. Gegen 23 Uhr bin ich hier gelandet und dann hat mich mein vorbestelltes Shuttle zu meinem Hotel gebracht. Da einchecken war problemlos und jetzt nenne ich eine nettes Studio-Zimmer mein Zuhause. Naja, Zuhause ist vielleicht etwas zu viel gesagt, da ich hier nur 3 Naechte verbringe.

Heute war ich schon im Visitorcenter und hab mir Infos ueber Christchurch und ueber Neuseeland besorgt. Gleich werde ich mal schoen gemuetlich durch die Stadt schlendern und mir Gedanken darueber machen, was ich morgen so machen werde. Uebermorgen - bevor ich meine Eltern am Flughafen abholen werde - werde ich mir das Antarctica-Center ansehen. Da dreht sich dann alles um die Antarktis.

Yesterday I flew from Melbourne to Christchurch with JetStar. We landed around 11pm and my pre-booked took me to my hotel. The check-in was easy and now I can call a nice studio room my home. Home is maybe to much because I will only stay there for 3 nights.

Today I was at the visitorcenter here in the city and now I have a lot of information about Christchurch and New Zealand. When I am finished here, I will walk a bit thru the city and think about what I can do tomorrow. The day after tomorrow I will a have a look at the Antarctica-Center before I meet my parents at the airport.
