Melanie goes DownUnder

Heute werde ich endlich aus Mount Isa abreisen. Es geht weiter in Richtung Boulia - das ist ca. 300 km weiter suedlich von Mount Isa. Irgendwie tut es mir ja schon leid, dass ich hier weg muss. Nicht so sehr wegen der Stadt, sondern wegen den ganzen Leuten auf dem Campingplatz... Den ein oder anderen werde ich evtl. wieder treffen, aber halt nicht alle und nicht alle zusammen. Gleich besorge ich noch ein paar Sachen und dann mach ich mich auf den Weg...

Today I will leave Mount Isa. I will drive to Boulia. Boulia is about 300 k south of Mount Isa. I am a little bit sad, because I will leave. It is not because of the city it is because of the people I meet here. Some of them I will see again later on my trip, but not all of them... I will do some shopping and then I will go to set off.

Eben ist was lustiges passiert...
Ich stehe an einer Ampel in Mount Isa und ploetzlich sagt jemand neben mir "Hi Melanie". Da war ich erst mal ganz verwundert und hab mich gefragt, wo die Stimme herkommt. Dann sassen im Auto neben mir, welche vom Campingplatz. Wir haben uns dann noch kurz unterhalten - solange bis die Ampel auf gruen umgesprungen ist.

Dann war ich noch kurz im Flamencos ein Kaesesandwich essen und jetzt bin ich im Internetcafe. Gleich mache ich mich auf den Weg zum Campingplatz und werde mich dann wieder an den Pool legen - aber in den Schatten, die Sonne ist hier einfach zu stark. Und Lust auf einen Sonnenbrand hab ich nicht...

A few minutes ago I stood on the traffic light in Mount Isa when somebody said "Hi Melanie". I was very suprise about that and looked around. Then I looked to the car near me. There was some people from the campground. We talked a little bit until the traffic lights got green.

Then I was at Flamencos and I ate a cheese sandwich. Now I am in the internet cafe. In a few minutes I will leave to the campground and then I will go to the pool and relax in the shade. The sun is to heavy and I don't want to have another sunburn.

Heute morgen hab ich mich gemuetlich fertig gemacht um in die Stadt zu fahren und als ich endlich los konnte, wollte mein Auto nicht. :-( Dann hab ich erstmal ca. ne Stunde auf Colin den Besitzer des Campingplatzes gewartet. Als er dann endlich kam, hatte sich die Batterie wieder soweit aufgeladen, dass das Auto anging. Colin hat dann noch etwas Wasser in die Batterie gefuellt und dann war wieder alles ok. Gott sei Dank...

Ansonsten geht es mir gut. Ich bin jetzt in der Stadt und hab ein paar Dinge besorgt. Unter anderem die "Zutaten", damit die Muecken mich endlich in Ruhe lassen... Die sind hier echt schlimm.

In the morning I wanted to drive to the city. When I was ready to go, my car wasn't. It won't start. :-( Then I waited about 1 hour for Colin. When he arrived the car start again and he only filled some water into the battery and then was everything ok.

I am okay. I am in the city now and I bought some things like dettol and baby oil against the mosquitos.

Am Ende der Woche werde ich Mount Isa in Richtung Boulia verlassen. Meinen Job bin ich auch los. Warum, werdet ihr euch bestimmt auch fragen. Das ist ganz einfach und ich hab es schon mal erwaehnt: Mary sucht jemanden, der hier wohnt und bei ihr arbeiten will. Und sie hat jemanden gefunden und da werde ich nicht mehr gebraucht. Aber das finde ich nicht so schlimm... Ich mach mir jetzt noch ne schoene relaxte und entspannte Woche, lese und schwimme im kalten Pool, sehe mir noch ein paar Sehenwuerdigkeiten an und dann werde ich Sonntag oder Montag wieder aufbrechen und noch mehr von Australien sehen...

At the end of the week I will leave Mount Isa to Boulia. I didn't have a job at the monent. Why do you want to know. That is easy. Mary is looking for a person who want to work for her and live in Mount Isa. And she found somebody and so she didn't need me. But I is not bad for me. I will have a relaxingly week, read and schwim in the cold pool, look at so sights and at Sunday or Monday I will leave Mount Isa.

Bin jetzt schon die 2te Woche in Mount Isa.

Bei mir gibt es immer noch nix neues - ich bin am Arbeiten oder relaxe am Pool. Heute arbeite ich nur 4 Stunden und zwar von 10 Uhr bis 14 Uhr. Dann hab ich diese Woche insgesamt 26 Stunden gearbeitet. Das reicht mir auch - ich bin froh, dass ich keine 40-Stunden-Woche habe. Das Wetter ist immer noch toll, aber langsam wird es richtig heiss. Wir haben hier Temperaturen um die 35 - 40 Grad Celcius. Ich freue mich schon auf heute Mittag, wenn ich dann endlich in den eiskalten Pool huepfen kann - und der Pool ist wirklich eiskalt. Ich bin nicht in der Lage langsam reinzugehen, ich huepfe immer rein.

Diese Woche hab ich ein Ticket - in deutsch einen Strafzettel - bekommen wegen zu langem Centre Parking. Sind aber nur 10 Dollar - doch auch die muss ich bezahlen. Darum muss ich mich die Tage mal kuemmern. Mit Centre Parking ist gemeint, dass man in der Mitte der Strasse parken kann und dann links und rechts die Autos vorbei fahren. Was ich allerdings nicht verstehe ist, warum ich das Ticket fuer das Centre Parking bekommen habe, aber keins bekomme, wenn ich am Rand der Strasse parke. Komische Sache - ich weiss aber jetzt, dass ich nicht mehr in der Mitte parke, wenn ich arbeiten gehe...

gibt es hier bei mir. Ich wollte mich nur mal wieder melden...

Hab am Wochenende etwas eingekauft (groesstenteils Lebensmittel) und eine Lampe sowie eine wasserfestes Verlaengerungskabel. Die ist superhilfreich, denn so hab ich Abends Licht im Auto und kann meine Batteriebetriebene Lampe schonen.

Ansonsten hab ich am Wochenende relaxt und den groessten Teil am Pool verbracht. Hier sind es im Durchschnitt ca. 35 Grad und da tut der Pool echt gut. Allerdings ist er so kalt, dass ich nur reinspringen kann. Anders schaffe ich es nur bis zu den Knien ins Wasser zu gehen.

Gestern haben wir noch etwas Football-zuwerfen gespielt und dabei habe ich den Football mitten ins Gesicht bekommen. War einfach Pech. Zuerst hat es sau-weh getan, aber nach einer Abkuehlung im Pool war das auch wieder vorbei. Aber keine Angst, es nicht blau, es tut nicht weh und ansonsten ist auch nix passiert.

There is nothing new here. I just wanted to write something and say hello.

On the weekend I did my shopping. I bought a lot of food and drinks, a lamp and a waterproof cables. Now I have light in the car and I don't have to use my battery-lamp.

The rest of the weekend I was just relaxing. I sit around the pool most of the time. At the moment we have about 35 degrees during the the day. But the pool is so cold that I only can jump into it. When I go inside the normal way I only can go into the water until it reach my knees.

Yesterday we played a little bit football and the I get the football into my face. It hurts very much at the first moment but after I put my face into the pool it was gone. But don't be scared - it is not blue and it don't hurt.

Ich hab eben im Menue eine Uhr eingefuegt, so dass ihr in Deutschland (oder wo auch immer ihr seid) sehen koennt, wie spaet es grade bei mir ist. Ich bin euch in Deutschland ja um 8 Stunden vorraus.

Ansonsten gibt es hier bei mir in Mount Isa nichts neues. Hab heute gearbeitet und bin froh, dass ich jetzt Feierabend habe. Werde demnaechst mal zum Campingplatz fahren und mich zum relaxen an den Pool legen. Morgen gehe ich evtl. etwas shoppen - kommt drauf an, ob ich dann noch Lust habe oder nicht.

There is nothing new what I can tell you. I have finished work for today and I will drive back to the campground in a few minutes. Then I will go to the pool and relax the rest of the day. Tomorrow I will go shopping. Hopefully I still want to do it tomorrow.

Gestern bin ich in Mount Isa angekommen und hab gleich die Mount Isa Hard Times Mines Underground Tour mitgemacht. Diese dauert ca. 2.5 Stunden und fuehrt einen in den Untergrund von Mount Isa. Hier in Mount Isa wird Kupfer abgebaut und da kann man einen Teil der Mine besichtigen.

Zuerst muss man sich umziehen (Schutzkleidung), dann Gummistiefel und den Helm anziehen, die Lampe richtig befestigen und dann geht es ab in die Tiefe. Dort sieht man zuerst einen Crib Room (Aufenthalsraum) und dann geht es weiter und man sieht viele Geraete (alte und neue), kann selbst ein Loch in die Wand bohren und vieles mehr. Das ist echt voll interessant.

Heute morgen wollte ich mir die School of the Air ansehen, aber leider haben sie heute keine Fuehrung. Gleich gehe ich noch zum Underground Hospital. Darueber kann ich dann demnaechst mehr berichten.

Yesterday I arrived in Mount Isa and I booked the Mount Isa Hard Times Underground Tour. The tour takes about 2.5 hour und will take you unter the earth of Mount Isa. In Mount Isa they digging copper and you can have a look to some parts of the mine.

Before you can go down you have to wear some protective clothes, wellies and a helmet. Then you have to fix your lamp at yout helmet and after that you will go down.

First you will see a crib room and the you can see a lot of machines (old and new), you can use a machine to put a hole in the wall and much more. That is very interesting.

Today I wanted to have a look at the School of the Air - but they are closed today. In a few minutes I will go to the Underground Hospital and have a look.
