Melanie goes DownUnder

Gestern bin ich mit der "Spirit of Tasmania I" zurueck nach Melbourne gekommen. Das war wieder mal ein super-langer Tag. Ich war morgens schon um 6 Uhr wach und hab dann alles zusammengepackt. Somit war ich schon kurz nach 7 Uhr an der Faehre. Dort ging dann die Warterei los und erst kurz nach 8 Uhr ging das Verladen los. Ich war unter den ersten Autos, die auf die Faehre durften und deswegen war ich im Garagendeck G1. Das ist das Deck das ganz unten im Schiff ist und damit gleichzeitig auch das Deck, dass als letztes wieder raus darf.

Gegen 9 Uhr hat die Faehre dann abgelegt und den 10stuendigen Weg bis nach Melbourne angetreten. Die Fahrt was an sich ereignislos. Das Meer hat sich wunderbar ruhig verhalten und ich hab wieder ein paar nette Leute getroffen. (Einige davon schon vorher auf dem Campingplatz.)

Gestern Abend gegen 19 Uhr waren wir dann in Melbourne, aber die Leute von Garagendeck G1 durften noch bis ca. 19:50 Uhr warten, bis wir zu den Autos und damit aus der Faehre rausdurften. Dann hab ich meine Gascontainer eingesammelt und hab mich auf den Weg zum Avalon Airfield gemacht. Dort in der Naehe gibt es eine Service Station und da hab ich uebernachtet.

Yesterday I drove with the "Spirit of Tasmania I" back to Melbourne. It was a very long day for me. I awoke around 6 am and then I started to pack everything. So that I was at the ferry terminal around 7 am. There I had to wait until 8 am and then we could drove into the ferry. I was under the first cars to board the ferry and so I was in the garage deck G1. G1 is the lowest deck aboard and the the deck that can leave the ferry at the last.

We left the Devonport harbour around 9 am and the we had the 10hours trip to Melbourne. On the trip nothing important happened. The ocean was really calm. I met a few nice people - some of them I met before at the campground.

Yesterday evening around 7 pm we reached Melbourne. But the people from G1 must wait until 7:50 pm until we got back to our cars. I also collected my gas containers and then I drove to the Avalon Airfield. There is a service station near the airfield and I spent the night there.

Am 08. Maerz 2007 ist die Endeavour von Devonport ausgelaufen. Jetzt wollte ihr bestimm wissen, was an der Endeavour so besonderes ist, oder? Die Endeavour ist ein Replikaschiff des Schiffes von James Cook. James Cook war der erste Europaeer, der Australien betreten hatte.

Das Schiff sieht super schoen aus und es war interessant zu sehen, wie die Segel gehisst wurden. Wenn man so ein Schiff mal gesehen hat, kann man sich auch vorstellen, wie die Seefahrer frueher mal gelebt haben.

At the 08. March 2007 left the Endeavour the harbour of Devonport. The Endeavour is a replica of the ship of James Cook. James Cook was the first european who visited Australia.

The ship looks very nice and I think it was very interesting to see how they hoist the sails. If you had a look of this ship you can imagine how the life of the sailors was.

Wenn ihr euch wundert, warum es schon laenger keine Bilder mehr gegeben hat... Das ist super einfach. Hier in Tassie ist das Internet sauteuer (meistens 4-6 Dollar pro Stunde) und meistens haben die PCs kein Bilder-verkleinerungs-Programm. Sobald ich in Melbourne bin kommen wieder Bilder. Versprochen.

If you are wondering why there a no new pictures... That's very easy. The internet here in Tassie is very expensive (4-6 Dollar per hour) and most of the PCs did not have any programm to make my pics smaller.

Nachdem ich Creative Paper besucht hatte, hab ich mich auf den Weg nach Devonport gemacht. Hab vom Highway aus noch einige schoene Ausbilck auf die Kueste gehabt, aber ich hab nirgends angehalten.

In Devonport hab ich mich auf dem Campingplatz eingemietet bis am Samstag. Denn am Samstagmorgen werde ich mit der Spirit of Tasmania zurueck nach Melbourne fahren, bevor ich mich auf den Weg zur Great Ocean Road mache.

Die letzten Tage in Devonport werd ich ganz locker angehen lassen und noch etwas shoppen gehen und mir keinen grossen Stress mehr machen mit Sightseeing etc. pp.

After I visited Creative Paper I drove to Devonport. From the Highway I had a few nice views to the beach and the coast but I did not stop somewhere.

I have a campsite at a campground in Devonport till Saturday. On Saturday morning I will leave Devonport to Melbourne with the Spirit of Tasmania. After that I will drive to the Great Ocean Road.

The last days in Devonport will be very easy for me. I will go and do some shopping. I don't want to creat some more stress for me because I have to do some more sightseeing or something like that...

Nachdem ich Queenstown verlassen habe, hab ich eine Nacht in Burnie verbracht. Am naechsten Morgen habe ich mir dann Creative Paper Tasmania angesehen. Diese stellen handmade paper (selbstgemachtes Papier) her. Das ist voll interessant und ich war echt erstaunt aus was man so alles Papier machen kann. Vor allem das Roo Poo Paper fand ich sehr interessant. Am Ende der Tour durfte man selber Papier machen. Eine neue Erfahrung fuer mich...

Und ihr duerft jetzt mal raten, was Roo Poo Paper ist...

After I left Queenstown I spent the night in Burnie. At the next morning I had a look at Creative Paper Tasmania. They make handmade paper. This is very intersting and I was very surprised from what you can make paper. At the end of the tour you could make your own paper. A new experience for me...

Die letzten beiden Naechte hab ich auf einem free campspot verbracht. Dort hab ich ganz nette Leute kennen gelernt, mit denen ich den gestigen Abend verbracht habe. Vielleicht sehe ich sie ja nochmal wieder. Ist ja nicht ungewoehnlich, dass das hier passiert.

Im Moment bin ich in Queenstown in der Buecherei im Internet und gleich werde ich mal einkaufen gehen und dann mache ich etwas Sightseeing. Bin schon gesoannt, was es alles zu sehen gibt...

The last two nights I spent at a free campspot. I met nice people there and I spent yesterday evening with them. I hope, I will see them again. That is not that unusally to meet people again.

At the moment I am at the library at Queenstown and in a few minutes I will do some shopping and then some sightseeing.

Ich bin zwar nur durch den Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park durchgefahren, aber die Ausblicke waren atemberaubend. Das ist echt etwas, was man sich ansehen sollte...

Heute morgen hab ich die Cadbury Chocolate Factory besucht und eine interessante Tour durch die Fabrik mitgemacht.

Ich hab gelernt, wie Cadbury Schokolade herstellt und wie die einzelnen Produkte verarbeitet werden. Schade, dass man nicht einfach mal was vom Band nehmen und schmecken konnte. :( Aber das war leider nicht erlaubt. Statt dessen gab es kleine Proben der Cadbury Schokolade. *lecker*

Unten koennt ihr meinen Schokofavoriten sehen.

In the morning I visited the Cadbury Chocolate Factory and had a interesting guided tour thru the factory.

I learned how Cadbury produced the chocolate and how they produced the different products. It is a pity that nobody could have some chocolate from the production line. :( But we got some small samples of the Cadbury chocolate.

Es gibt nix neues bei mir. Ich bin immer noch in Hobart, werde aber morgen weiterfahren in Richtung Norden. Wohin weiss ich noch nicht genau. Das werde ich morgen spontan entscheiden.

Das Wetter hier ist richtig bescheiden. Bewoelkt und regnerisch. Richtiges Herbstwetter und dabei ist hier doch Sommer. :( Aber es ist noch so warm, dass man in kurzen Sachen rumlaufen kann. Immerhin etwas. :)

I did not know something new. I am still in Hobart, but I will leave tomorrow to the North. I didn't know where I want to go but I will find it out tomorrow.

The weather ist really bad here. Overcast and rainy. It look like it is autumm weather but here is summer. :( But it is still warm enough to use shorts and shirts. That is something... :)

Ich hab - da ich ja die Ghost Tour gemacht habe - eine Nacht auf dem Campingplatz in Port Arthur uebernachtet. Und dort steht auf einmal ein Maedel neben mir und fragt mich, ob ich die Melanie bin. Da war ich doch etwas verbluefft. Und dann hat sich rausgestellt, dass dieses nette Maedel Xenia aus dem Reisebineforum ist. Coole Sache.

Xenia und ich haben uns vorher schon ein paar Mal per Mail oder PN unterhalten und sie hat mir schon ein paar Kommentare geschrieben.

@ Xenia: Wuensch dir noch eine gute und schoene Reise und vielleicht sehen wir uns ja noch mal.

I spent one night at the campground in Port Arthur and then somebody asked me if I am Melanie. Yes I am. I really looked blank because I did not now the girl. After she introduced herself I know her. It was Xenia from the a german internet forum {Reisebineforum}. We already talked via mails and PNs and Xenia also left some comments at my page.
