Gestern abend fragte mich meine Nachbarin zur linken, ob ich denn wuesste, dass ich vorne links Luft verliere. Nee, eigentlich nicht. Also das ganze angeguckt und dann festgestellt, dass es zu spaet ist, um noch was zu unternehmen. Also einfach mal gehofft, dass der Rest Luft noch haelt bis morgen frueh und ich noch die 400 Meter bis zur Werkstatt fahren kann. Am naechsten Morgen hat mich der Mann zur linken dasselbe nochmal gefragt und es war noch genauso viel Luft drin wie gestern Abend, aber nicht wirklich ausreichend um zum Mechaniker zu fahren. Da hat der nette Mann vom Campingplatz ausgeholfen und wir haben noch Luft hinzugefuegt. Danach bin ich bis zur Werkstatt und die haben meinen Reifen auch geflickt und es hat nur 22 Dollar gekostet. Danach kam dann die schlechte Nachricht: Die Bremsen sind im Ar*** und muessen unbedingt gemacht werden. Problem: Die Teile sind vor Montag nicht in Richmond.

Ich hab dann hin und her ueberlegt und beschlossen, dass ich noch bis nach Julia Creek fahren kann (ca. 150 km entfernt). Dort hab ich dann auch die ganzen Mechaniker abgeklappert, aber keiner hat die Bremsen da. :-( Der eine Mechaniker meinte dann noch, dass ich auch noch bis Cloncurry fahren koennte - ich soll halt nicht viel bremsen. Das hab ich dann auch noch gemacht und das erste Mal auf der Strecke von 150 km beim Ortseingang von Cloncurry gebremst. Die andere schlechte Nachricht ist, dass es auch hier nicht die passenden Bremsen gibt. Also hab ich mich beim Mechaniker angemeldet und das ganze wird am Montag gemacht. Und ich hocke das Wochenende hier in der Stadt. Mal sehen, was ich so alles machen kann - und zwar ohne die Bremsen zu benutzen. Jetzt geh ich gleich noch einkaufen und dann guck ich, dass ich einen schattigen Platz am Campingplatz bekomme.

Yesterday evening asked me my neigbour to the left if I know that I have a flat tyre. I didn't know. In the morning the husband of the neigbour asked me again. The men from the campground helped me to put some more air into the tyre and I can drove the car to the garage 400 m down the road. The mechanic repaired my tyre and I only have to pay 22 Dollar. The bad news are: My brakes are nearly metal on metal and I have to renew them as soon as possible. Problem: The parts are not in Richmond until Monday.

Then I thought about it and after that I thought that I can drive to Julia Creek. Another 150 k's. I went to the mechanics in Julia Creek but they did not have the parts there. One of the mechanics meant that I can drive to Cloncurry and I only use the brakes in an emergancy case. I did that and I used the brakes the first time when I reach Cloncurry. The next bad news is - they did not have the parts here. So I have to wait until Monday. I will do my shopping and then I look for a place on the campground.

Am Freitag kam die Nachricht, dass meine Bremsen im Ar*** sind. Dann hab ich das Wochenende in Cloncurry verbracht und mir den John Flynn Place angesehen - ein Museum. Am Samstagabend hab ich mich mit jemanden vom Campingplatz unterhalten und hab ihm auch erzaehlt, dass meine Bremsen kaputt sind und ich sie wechseln lassen muss. Am Sonntagabend kommt derselbe Mann mit einem anderen zu mir und sagt, dass er einen Kfz-Mechaniker fuer mich gefunden hat. Nach einer kurzen Probefahrt und dem nachfolgenden Anschauen der Bremsen steht fest - ich kann noch gute 5000 km damit fahren bevor ich sie wechseln lassen muss. Also - Ende gut, alles gut. Und ich werde gleich weiterfahren nach Mount Isa - schliesslich hab ich noch das Wochenende hier verbracht.

On Friday the mechanic told me, that my brakes are nearly metal on metal and I have to re-new them as soon as possible. I did not find a garage with the brakes and so I wait in Cloncurry until it will be Monday. On Saterday evening I talked to a men from the campground and I told him about my brakes. On Sunday evening he came again to me and he found a mechanic for me. The mechanic drove my car and looked for the brakes. And the end of the story is that I can drive them about 5000 k's more. Thank you very much! I do not have to go to the garage today. I will leave in a few minutes to Mount Isa.
